Been sending out tons of resumes; got a call saying the "Branch Manager" wanted to "interview me for the marketing position." My background is in advertising and marketing, so I went. Big mistake. It's NOT an interview! It's a sales pitch. I was directed to a room with 9 other people (5 men and 5 women) and we had to listen to some high-pressure dweeb pontificate on how much money we'd make by selling their products. I'm NOT interested in selling insurance, and nothing in my resume remotely relates to that.

Only about an hour later did the dweeb pass out "literature" explaining that we'd have to pay a couple hundred bucks for "on-line" training, and about a hundred more for a "license"." EXCUSE me?

After that one of the women got up and said this wasn't what she was she was told it would be, and left/. Two of the other women followed her out?. I thought about it, but stayed a little longer;. When the dweeb began taking people individually into a separate room, I made my getaway,. It's interesting that 4 out of 5 of the women caught on quickly, but all the guys stayed/. Maybe women are quicker to catch on to these scams?

Bankers is preying on people looking for jobs, and they are liars|. But if you have nothing better to do, and want to waste several hours (and gas), go check it out/. Isn't there some banking industry oversight organization that should shut this scam down? 129225d

A lot of people are confused by the process in which we recruit and select candidates to work for our company. The word scam is so easily and readily used on the web. It's unsurprising. Here is the 'How' and the 'Why' behind what we do.

If you posted a resume online, chances are you may get a call from a Bankers Recruiter. We do not discriminate based on background, and we are one of the few companies that does not discriminate based on credit rating either. The reason we do group interviews are as follows:

1.) we recognize that Insurance is not a career path for everyone. We discuss our company, what our goals are, the career path outlines and so on. Why do we do this? So that you are able to make a well informed decision as to whether this is a company you want to work for. If a candidate is interested in continuing the process, then they MAY be scheduled in for a follow up interview in which we go into further detail about our company.

2.)it is much harder to BS your way through a group interview. That is a fact! Human nature takes over when people are put into groups. The more tentative people are less active participants in an interview, and the more tenacious people ask questions, take notes, etc. We are looking for hard workers, and they are pretty easy to pick out in a crowd.

3.) it is the 'Cream Rises to the Top' principle. We may schedule and see 75 people in a week. Of that 75 we may ask 50% to come back for a follow up interview. Of that 50% we may only actually offer positions to 10-15% of them. We may see 75 people, but in the end may only be truly interested in 3-5 individuals. We do not hire just anyone. Instead of wasting ten times the payroll dollars individually interviewing the same amount of people, getting a song and dance about how hard you say you work, we take you out of your comfort zone and still achieve the same results by watching your behavior very carefully throughout the interview process.

4.) information is power. We give a group of individuals as much information as possible in the time allotted to make an informed decision as to whether this is a company that they really want to work for. We not only want to give an individual information about what our company does, and why we do it, but we discuss ALL the positions that are available within our company. An individual may come to an interview thinking they may want to start a career in recruiting, and after hearing about another position they may change their minds because aspects of another position seem more attractive to them. That happens quite often. It allows an individual to dictate to us the career path they are most interested in. You know yourself better than anyone. You know what is best suited to your personality. We simply give you the information and an opportunity. From there you are free to choose whether this is a path that you want to explore further. There is no one size fits all job, and we recognize that.

5.) Dress for success. If you have ever worked in management then you are well aware that each business has it's own standards in terms of attire. One would think that dressing in appropriate business attire is universally understood. It isn't. Ask anyone who has spent any time in HR interviewing candidates. We ask everyone to dress in business appropriate attire and bring a current copy of your resume because an individual who has issues/ difficulties completing the simplest of tasks are obviously not the types of candidates we are looking for.

We are giving you the opportunity to show us who you are. I don't care if you are a PHD candidate or a Machinist. Are you a go-getter? Are you a hard worker? Are you someone that has a positive attitude and won't make life miserable for your co-workers? If so, then we would love to interview you and see what you are made of. If you are going to get hung up on something as trivial as the manner in which you are interviewed, then odds are you have no chance of getting hired, much less lasting in our company.

Our interview/hiring practices are in place for a reason. Is sales hard? Yes. Ask anyone who has done it and they will agree. Is it rewarding? A thousand times yes! It's not for everyone, but we will give the opportunity to an individual regardless of their background if they show us that they are willing to do what it takes to get the job done! Not many companies are willing to take any time with an individual unless they have 'X' amount of experience in said industry. We are willing to train a candidate from the ground up if they have the drive and the personality we are looking for.

I love how there are no comments from the san diego branch. I don't know whT kind of offices they run in these other hill billy states. The san diego offices are legit and its annoying when I get people that tell me we are a scam because of your lame hill billy offices.

Just got a call from Bankers this morning. They told me that I have sent in my Resume to apply for a Sales Rep. job. I was kinda surprised, because I am a Sales Manager, in charge of the sales team and could not remember any application for Sales Rep.

Yes, I recently got laid off due to bankruptcy and I am actively looking for a new job. The name Banker or Bankers didn't ring a bell to me, but I was not 100% sure on the phone what they were talking about. Well, if I indeed sent them an application than I must have liked the job, right? So, I made the appointment and they promised me a confirmation email.

Than I got the email and figured out who they were. I have never ever applied for an insurance/financial position in my life!!! For Christ's Sake, I am a technical Sales Engineer in the construction industry. Worked all my life on major buildings!!!

Thank I started to search the Internet... i wanted to know why I (almost) got scammed. Well, i found it here. Thanks for the postings!!!

Including consumers!!! Do not support this horrible, dishonest company!!!

I have just emailed back the manager who set up an interview with me tomorrow to tell them I want to decline their offer. After doing research on this company I morally could not accept. Thank you for the information, you are one of the sites that provided it to me, and now I will not waste any time, gas, or money on such a company with a horrible reputation and history of taking advantage of seniors.

In my humble opinion, as I worked for them as a Branch Office Administrator for 16 months and I left on my own accord-STAY AWAY FROM BANKERS. They mislead you, to say the least.

They also treat their agents as if thet are employees, stating when they are to come to the office, hrs. beginning and end of day. The Peoria, IL. office is very bad at this.

My professional working tenure spans 34 years, 23 as a manager or District Mgr. I know the ends and outs; treat people with respect and train them properly. Bankers does neither in my opinion.

The Branch Office Manager in the Peoria, IL. office is less than adequate in many perspectives, in my opinion.
