Don't expect a career with Bankers Life

Bankers Life is not a good career choice. There are massive complaints about this company from employees and consumers. Read the advice and listen. Do not waste your valuable time and money to work for this company. The managers are working with an "old boys network". In this day and age it is unbelievable to discount females and minorities in the workplace. The white male managers in this company tend to work in an unethical manner only helping the guys in their buddy line. Beware to all others you will waste a year of your career on this company and then find the warnings on the internet to be true. This company is backwards in time.

I have a second interview w Bankers on friday. I was impressed with the 1st meeting put on with Mr Fordham. I agree with many things that he said..including..there is no place to hide...if you dont work you will be spotted very quickly...many people who work hourly wages tend to let others hold them up or do just enough to get by...if you arent hungry, eager or self motivated or service oriented I can see this aint the business for you.

Guest

I started with them in Sept. of '11.

Got my license & did the training. On my first day we were told to try & write policies on your friends & family. I'm not that type of person. Did not make SNA & only wrote 2 policies.

Knew my contract was about to be terminated. Put my resume on the internet. Was inundated with job offers from other insurance companies. Seems Bankers has a great training program.

I'm now with another company that has better business practices. Thank you Bankers for getting me a better future in insurance.

Bankers Life - Not a Long Term Career

I worked at Bankers Life for 2 years as an agent. I was committed to spending a long career there. But after working hard to build up a client base a new manager came in and wanted to get rid of the experienced people so he could take their clients. I found out that management only gets good override commissions on new people in under three years. Their business plan is to constantly hire new people in to enthusiastically dig up new clients and make quick sales. Then when new agents find out they don't make the big bucks promised they don't care if they quit its just a revolving door. But the first year of training is quite good. So my advice is if you want to get into insurance: use Bankers Life as a training company and then leave after the first year or two to join a better company.

Unfortunately Christina it is the company that is at fault. I also worked at Bankers.

Yes, there are definitely good people there but the people who make the ultimate decisions make alot of poor ones.

Even if you sell and service a client very well it doesnt matter how nice your manager is he cant make the big wigs pay your clients claims and you definitley cant either. So no matter how "good" you think your branch office is eventually you will find out how unethical the company actually is.

See every insurance company has it's ups and downs. I have two brothers who sell State Farm Insurance and there are people who hate it and people who love it.

It's the same with Bankers. I have recently been hired and have no complaints. There are these people who are saying that Bankers tell you not to say anything bad about them and that is not true. Not at my office anyways.

If some branch managers do that than shame on them! They give the company a bad name.

I am fortunate to have a wonderful manager! every place has good and bad bosses, honest and dishonest people. So blame the people NOT the company!

Guest

Regular math would brake down that 1 mil, to about 33K between 30 agents. And, you say, the manager has 'no/0'?

mandated recruiting goals?, aren't you lucky. That is waaaay believiable...you just found pissedconsumer, didn't you?

Guest

Wow.. that sounds like a horrible manager and they should be fired.

Im an agent out of southbend IN and we have veteran agents of 5-10 years and our manager is pretty great we hardly get rookies because no one ever leaves. but its a different state different area different manager and it really is dependent on if you get a manager who knows how to handle people South Bend did 1 million in commission between 30 agents last year so i get that you got shafted by that branch but its a national company not every area is like that.

I was just contacted this morning for an interview on Friday. I felt that something wasn't right when she said the office was in Alameda but was calling from a Dallas phone number. After doing a search of the company and reading the comments I will not be considering this job.

Guest

Especially avoid the Alameda,CA, office.

The manager is erratic & volatile, screaming & yelling at under-performance, especially harsh at women. He is uneducated, crude & vulgar.

I was there for three months.

The turnover was tremendously high. Morale was low.

Those who stayed are barely making a living, but did not want change. They hated his beahvior & just tolerated him begrudgingly.

Allen P Fbu

Sillym,I'm not in the insurance business, but was considering it in this downturn economy.A close friend had told me of this practice with Banker's Life.I'm sure you'll find another company who appreciates dedication to their career.

Shame on Banker's Life

Customer service is a toll free # in a foreign country who will only give run around.

I have tried to get our client's father's annuity disbursed since last fall and they only give a run around. The local agent won't return a call and the corporate only give a customer service # which is in a foreign country and they refuse to give us a contact person. They always have a new excuse for not following through. Don't ever buy your annuity with this company. They also do not have an agent of service in Arkansas so I can serve them with a subpeona. I feel totally stuck and frustrated with this company.

DO NOT do business with Bankers Life!!!!

Have read several complaints submitted by many individuals. It is an odd thing that I am having the very same issues. I have been contacting them for 6 months just trying to get information about claims that have been made, and a decision there-of. It is impossible. Just as others say, you never get the same rep. nor will they give you a name or number so you can contact the same one.... I have literally spent hours on the phone, way too much money faxing duplicate information (the only way they will except it, other than mail) again and again. As others, the same excuse is used. They have not received it, they do not have everything. I have been documenting the experiences I have had, and they are horrible. My parents have been paying for over 10 years too... now that they need assistance BANKERS LIFE is giving us a run-around like I have never seen or had to deal with before. Have made a complaint to Consumer Protection hoping they will be able to help... If not, the next step is an attorney... Not sure what to do, but A Class Action might help.

Avoid buying from Bankers Life and avoid working for them or any of their affiliates! One big company that scams, hires, fires and forces employees to resign.

Not to mention, they racially discriminate! Go to their interviews and see for yourself. Real interview? BS!

Its these sales tactics to make you believe you can make money, lure you in, and then give you the BS recycle leads. Force you to sign up everyone you know because you must make money and easiest people to sucker are those that trust you; mainly family, friends and old acquaintances.

Guest

@crybaby, why don't you tell us your name? Protecting a company for what?

You either are affiliated with their scamming party or you are one of the agents getting fed all of the "real" leads and not the 10 year old recycled leads they give out to all of their branches. Didn't make the cut? I'd love everyone who was mistreated to chime in and tell everyone about how all of your customers that bought from you are now all cancelling their policies and you are getting hit left and right with collections. They make all of the money and you get left with the BS.

*** Bankers Life. Sorry *** Managers read my blogs spilling all their BS and they made numerous attempts to try and reach me to try and stop me telling all of their scamming system at Bankers. When I had resigned, I wasn't important to them.

But when I spilled all of the real BS, they were calling me like I was their brother. *** Bankers Life and all of their affiliates and Managers!!!

Guest

Training is only a week? BS it's everyday every week and seminars for free...learning and training is all the time at Bankers!

IF you are going to write a complaint at least be smart about it. geez

Guest

:cry Some of us have made money from a job with Bankers and like it very much....remember not everyone can do it.....and not just anyone can make the cut! The negative comments are from people who obviously did not make the team! Think about it!

Guest

Not only are employees complaining, also clients are too, apparently. I interviewed and found that the "training" is only a week to start, but covers life, health (Medicare supplementals) too many products to "learn" in one week.

How can they provide good c.s., then? Potential retirees should check with AARP or AAA for reputable companies or 1800-Medicare for info on supplemental or advantage plans.

Guest

Make a complaint to the insurance comissioner in your state. They are generally very strict and Bankers already gets so many complaints that they will probably be very happy to investigate another problem with them.

They will definitely help you out. Also make a complaint to the better business bureau but immediatley to the insurance commissioner.

Guest

My father is 73 and in fairly good health. His memory isn't what it used to be, but other than that, he's fine.

He has Bankers for his healthcare, and now an agent (who flirts shamelessly) is trying to coax him into spending an extra $130/month for a short-term care policy which will only cover 90 days if he ends up needing nursing or in home care.

I think it's unnecessary, but my dad has bought into her sales pitch.

He is due to sign papers tomorrow, but I am thinking of talking him out of it. I think a medic-alert emergency necklace unit would be just as good...any feedback?

Guest

I was brainwashed through repeated trainings week in and week out, even on Saturdays (what the *** do you call that?). Led to believe that Bankers Life is a good company, been in business for over a 100 years, yada yada.

***! I fell hard. Believed. Then tried to sell their *** life insurance, health and retirement products to friends, family, old acquaintances, you name it.

Now I look like a ***. Burnt so many relationships, friendships, etc. When I call on my friends or email them, they don't respond anymore because they think I'm trying to sell them some ***. Folks do their research (unfortunately I didn't do enough) and they know how bad a company Banker's Life is.

So they won't buy life insurance from Banker's, they won't buy health related products because they are very expensive and their retirement products are just full of ***. I'd imagine the company going in to Bankruptcy soon. Word needs to get out and no one is speaking unfortunately. A couple guys I started with all suffered the same fate.

They weren't like me, they just sucked it up and moved on. Not a word to anyone. Sad really. They all had families and children to support too.

I quitted first, then those other fellas all eventually followed suit. It's sad because we each contributed a few, and they made money from our *** sales numbers (those customers were our parents, wife, brothers, sisters, friends we've all known for a long period of time) and I'd bet most of those sales went to collections. Now your credit is *** up too thanks to them. So why waste time, money and effort to lose at the end?

Really?

Life goes down the drain working at Banker's. I say their is NO LIFE at Banker's, ONLY CASUALTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guest

Why pyramid scheme? When you come in as a new agent, you are forced (required) to go out with their seasoned reps and if the both of you make a sale, that seasoned rep takes half of the commission.

And then upper management takes a piece. That's how they are making $300k, $400k, or even $500k. *** take a piece of everyones commission. Why high employee turn around?

Why hire and fire? Or self quit? It's because they get you in, and if you sell 1, 2 or 3 polices, and a branch have 20 or 30 new agents, imagine how much money is made there? Easy money.

I'd love to be at the top too, but unfortunately I wasn't part of the evil leaders that started this pyramid scheme. And after folks resign, get fired, the measly few that each new agent sells, if the customers all cancel, whatever you pocketed will go to collections. More money for them!!!!!!!

They are just raping people. Literally!

IF AFTER READING MY COMMENTS YOU STILL WANT TO WORK FOR THEM, GOOD LUCK. DON'T TELL ME I DIDN'T WARN YOU. SOON YOU WILL FIND YOURSELF BACK ON TO THIS SITE TELLING US THAT YOU SHOULD HAVE LISTENED AND NOT WASTED YOUR TIME.

BANKERS LIFE MAY BE IN MANY LOCATIONS IN THE US, BUT THEY ARE A FILTHY LYING NEW AGE SOPHISTICATED PYRAMID SCHEME. DO NOT EVERY WORK OR BUY FROM THIS *** COMPANY! YES SOME FOLKS WORKING THEIR (ROOKIES) MAY BE GOOD PEOPLE WITH GOOD INTENTIONS, BUT NOT THE COMPANY. FROM ALL THE PROBLEMS CUSTOMERS ENDURE WITH FILING CLAIMS TO THEIR HIGH COST OF POLICIES AND OTHER HEALTH RELATED SERVICES.

I WOULD NOT WASTE ANOTHER MINUTE DEALING WITH THIS COMPANY. UPSET BECAUSE I WASTED SO MUCH MONEY DRIVING AROUND SEEING FOLKS THAT DIDN'T QUALIFY (THANKS TO *** RECYCLED LEADS), PUT ON A TON OF MILEAGE USING MY OWN CAR, SPENT A FEW THOUSAND DOLLARS ON GAS, AND I MADE NOTHING!!! ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! SOME OF THEIR NEW REPS (MAYBE 2 YEARS TENURE) ARE MAKING MAYBE $200K, BUT MAJORITY OF THEM ARE MIDDLE EASTERN DECENT (THEIR FRIENDS, FAMILY, COUSINS) SO THEY ARE SPOONFED. AND THEY USE THESE TOP PRODUCERS AS EXAMPLES TO PUMP YOU UP. I'D FIGURE IF I CAN'T MAKE WHAT THEY ARE MAKING I'D AT LEAST MAKE $25,000 A YEAR (IN OTHER INDUSTRIES I'M GOOD AT SELLING ***), BUT MAKING NOTHING IN 6 MONTHS SPEAKS A LOT. ITS NOT THAT I SUCK AT IT, ITS JUST *** UP!

YOU'LL FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF.

Job interview

I am so glad I found this. Thought it sounded fishy. I work as a home remodeler and they said they saw my resume and wanted to set up interview. Had to ask first who they were. Guess new branch opening in crown point indiana. I will not attend especially after hearing about their practices. Dorothy on phone said the hire people from all different backgrounds. That raised a red flag in my book. Secondly, I am an ex felon and do not feel comfortable hurting the elderly or anybody. Fyi, it was for drugs that I got in trouble. Seems like these people should all go to prison for ponzi schemes

Ok really?

Banker's life is an interesting operation. They are extremely predatory; on everyone it seems. The elderly and especially those looking for jobs in this economy.

I received an email from a recruiter. I responded and made an appointment for a "meeting". It was a small seminar of about 20 people or so. When I got home the same day, I received a call letting me know that the manager really liked meeting with me and would like for me to come in for an interview. I never actually met the manager, he sort of shook hands with us as we left and asked us our names. There were two of us with the same name and neither of us said our last names. Nonetheless I went in for the interview. This was another group session with some of the same people I was with and some others. This time, it was this rather unpleasant lady doing the session. This "interview" involved her asking us to ask her questions. Something that was mentioned in the email but was not specific of what that entailed. This lady did not like certain questions including mine; I had asked if there were good opportunities for what I was good at in the company. She sort of answered and then kept asking if there was anything else. I had to tell her no three times.

I received a phone call from them after I got home. I missed the call and called back. I told them who I was and suddenly, I went to voice mail. I tried calling back several times but was sent to voice mail. I waited a half hour as the recording said the office closed at 4:30. Interesting since this lady told me that it stays open till 6. I got a hold of someone finally. It was the same lady, I recognize her from listening to her for 2 hours earlier. I gave her my name and explained that I was returning a phone call. She asked who called and I said that it was just a missed call on my phone. She said that they have 30 lines there and if I didn't know who called then she couldn't help me. I know for a fact that there are only two receptionists there. 30 lines my eye!

In edition, they want you to pay for the training and licensing you will need. Most legitimate companies do that for you and never ask you to pay out of pocket. Either for re embursment or otherwise. This company is completely full of it! Always be wary of a company that tells you how much everyone who works there is making.

This experince took place at the Mission Valley office in San Diego

You may have seen two receptionists, but, they keep the door shut during the recruiting "interviews/cattlecalls", so that you can't see the cubies, where the recruits are chained. They are calling lists leads, telling them they are 'in the area', and will get that important information about the changes in Medicare over to them.

This is the 'office' support, they speak of. This is to get you in the door of an unsupecting senior, to get them to tell you where their money is. You 'have' to do this two days a week, 8-10 hours/day to get the 'required' number of appointments, to get the 'required' number of sales. They 'support' you for 90 days.

You then will start paying for the "leads", by a of 10-30% of your 'advanced' commission, which they will take back, when you leave. You'll need to leave, because, they have someone, who paid up, for the insurance school, ready to take your place in those chains, in the cubie.....and so it goes. It is preditory, and it is unneccessary pain and expense, which you or no one else needs. The seniors?....they don't need it either.

It is the same in every office, every state. But they "liked" you, right?

You are fortunate, to have asked just enough of the wrong questions, to be a pain for them, by causing the others to start thinking. Good for you.

Bankers Life LTC

My mother paid on the Bankers Life Poilcy for 10 years and was recently admitted to a memory care unit.

I have been fighting with Bankers Life for 4 months over the elimination period and when the payment period starts.

The customer service unit is in Antiqua which means they arr difficult to understand and thier information is horrible.

I have spent 40 hopurs and over a dozen phone calls trying to get this elimination period finished.

I get a differnt answer evertime I call.

Ehen I send invoices they say they cannot read them so I mail them and make the smae claim.

The experinec I have had with this company has been awful and I would warn anyone before they buy a policy from Bankers Life.

From What I Can Gather...

From what I can gather, Bankers Life and Casualty is a telemarketing job that requires you to pay for a license to work for them and the only money you make is on commission. They appear to mainly sell "supplemental insurance" to old people over the phone, even making "cold calls" (calls out of the blue – usually around supper time). Let me explain what immediately tipped me off to the scam – and note that I have never encountered this particular scam before. 1. The "person" that contacted me sounded like a computer generated voice, although was clearly an actual person. The connection was terrible and it skipped. It was like trying to talk with someone on the steppes of Mongolia through a speaker phone in 1948. 2. The person with whom I talked had a completely non-descript accent, but it was obviously not American. Nor English, he couldn't pronounce simple words. He sure as *** wasn't French cuz he couldn't pronounce the word "gouda" (as in the cheese). A. I began to put two and two together. This person was not calling from the US, hence the shoddy phone connection. B. The fact that it sounded like a computer voice was probably because the voice was being manipulated so as to hide the (Nigerian??) accent. Or Indian. When you hear, "I can definitely help you with that sir" in a voice that sounds like Raj from The Big Bang Theory you raise an eyebrow. C. "Leo" had no idea what job they were offering me. D. My Spidey-sense went off when I began to realize the typical "pay up front and we'll make you money" set up. E. Their "office" here is set up in as much of a ghetto as one could hope to find in Madison, Wisconsin. 3. I was told to come to the interview rather than asked and it sounded just like "You've won $20 MILLION!! …We just need your bank account number so we can wire a tracking deposit…" I don't know who these people are or how they could have remained in business since the late 19th century. I can't decide if I should stay home or grab my video cameras and make a do-it-myself documentary.

There's a state script the agents are required to follow in each state, with little room for deviation. You can lose the license if you deviate.

Hey corporate shill that is BS

Guest

So after your 'two' whole interviews, you, as a former self-employed individual, have a better perspective, and understand the concept of independent contractor, and of course, it's cost. Excellent.

And, after all they 'seem' professional, if not honest, and therefore, you have arrived here, to share. It has been in business for over a 100 years, and we should all apparently sit down. If, in fact, it's not your rodeo, then you should be the first to know that they are not helping seniors out, except for out of their money. You, who may be a little 'older', than the others, with your vast experience, will be one of the first to go.

You will fulfill the recruiting quota, and write a few, and leave. I've seen hundreds of you and your type....love it. Made a lot of money on guys like you. BTW, you have any old 401's, or money markets laying around, that they can talk you into putting with Bankers?

You know, to make SNA?

They'd love to have to sign over a few hundred thousand, before you hit the door. Remember, just sign everything, you don't need to read it, you're way too experienced for that.....right?

Guest

I went for interview 1 and 2 last week in Roseville. I have been self employed and I think that is the key, if you have an employee attitude these extra expenses may sound scam like, but in reality, it is for your insurance license.

That is a license that you have to have to work in the field. And sure, I would love for someone else to pay for it for me, but the reality is that if you are an independent contractor, you have to usually pay these things. As a real estate agent you have to pay fees every month to stay in business, whether you are making money or not.

The gentlemen were very professional, honest, and I did not see anything about Bankers that seemed underhanded. If they are really helping seniors, leave them alone, oh and BTW, they have been around for over 100 years.

Ladd Cto
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-398253

Yeah around for over 100 years. Our founding fathers thought corporations should live for maybe fifty years.

If they live longer than that innovation is stifled. Bankers has outlived its usefulness another dead company that has turned to ripping off people to try and stay alive.

They will hire you if your tombstone said you lived.

Guest

Bankers Life and Casualty is full of "Managers" that will tell any new hire what they want to hear to get them contracted because the Company puts ridiculous numbers on each office for new hires.

I have never seen a company that only rewards Management for having 1st and 2nd year agents and punishes you for having a 10 year agent who you make zero over ride on.

So they churn through agents like a bad habit.

Lets be realistic for a minute. All you have to do is look at the 4 major rating agencies. There are 3-4 Companies who have attained the highest ratings from all 4. And those are all Mutual Companies.

Bankers Life has been a D rated Company since the Conseco Chapter 11 mess.

If you want a long term career with a Company that has been around for 165 years and has a true professional culture, save yourself allot of time and go to New York Life.

The managers are paid by the company instead of making new agents give up half of their commission to pay their bills. And their training program NYLIC University is recognized to be the best in the Industry. And when you talk to your potential clients you don't have to spend 30 minutes defending yourself and your company of its bad reputation. You walk in with Brand Name recognition already and AAA ratings across the board.

Just my 2 cents.

Ladd Cto
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-384438

Agree, what is so great about a company because they are 100 years old? What does that have to do with integrity? BLC has such a low rating...

Yea they called me the other day out of cleveland, im trying to figure out whats up with them...

You are the comic. This commenter was actually being somewhat kind, The monmentary position of phone slave, is only the beginning of the problems.

The cost to get licensed, the misrepresented position, the scamming of seniors, the repaying of the sorry commissions back to the company, the state and Federal investigations, the damage to the recruit, their family, their finances, and abject deciet, isn't funny and never will be. Keep your head in their crack, not funny, but, well deserved.

Banker's Life and Casualty Purposely Delays Inheritance Disbursements

My husband's mother died around Thanksgiving last year. Since a week afterwards my husband (executor of her estate) has been trying to settle annuities (one qualified and one non qualified) with weekly phone calls. Each week he calls to ask if they have all the paper work they need. Each time he is assured that everything is in order and he will receive the funds in 7-10 days. Each and every time he calls back, they come up with ANOTHER obstacle, another piece of paper, another hoop to jump through that somehow they "missed" from the previous week. This has literally been going on for almost 3 months. If it weren't so stressful on my husband, it would be hilarious. I strongly caution anyone that is thinking about leaving any financial inheritance to their children to NOT use Banker's Life and Casulaty - particularly the location ion 11825 W Pennsylvania ST in Carmel Indiana. Their Customer Service people are not in the United States and good luck speaking to anyone actually located in Carmel, Indiana - much less the United States. They are unprofessional, unorganized and we are giving them one last chance to produce before notifying the FDIC and any other federal agency that needs to know about this SCAM calling itself a company. My in-laws would be simply mortified to know how my husband has been treated, particularly at a time when he is still mourning.

My Father died in Sept 2011 and my step-mom two days later. He left my sister and I beneficiaries of 3 annuities around 200,000.00 and they sent out the paperwork afer about a week when notified.

Now-5mos later-we still have no check because they said the money has to go to my stepmoms estate first --then their executrix will write out a check to my sister and I for our shares. I know my step-sister thinks they should get some of this as well and because of Bankers Life taking forever to take care of this---it has turned into a fiasco and we are still out of our money our Dad wanted us to have.

WE dont know what to do. Thinking about filing a complaint with Texas Insurance commision or Security Exchange!

Guest

Copy of the documents to the Commissioner of Insurance, the Federal Trade Commission, the Senate Committeee on Aging, your state representative and senator. Being 'polite' and calm in a Branch Manager's office won't help.

There IS no assurance that the BSM can give to get you paid faster. They held the funds to make their end of the year numbers look better for their K-8 reports to the SEC. If they can hold the funds through the end of the first quarter, they will. The only form they need are the claim forms and the death certificate, which they probably have (several times).

Call 1-80*-***-**** and either select 0, or nothing till the operator comes on, ask for Scott Perry (president), you'll only get his secretary, he's too good to speak to you himself, and knows they're doing what they've been told and will probably send them an accomadation. Let her know your complaint is being filed or has been filed (and be sure to do it no matter what). You will have a brief moment of satisfaction.

BTW, the extension for annuity claims is 64832, if you want to let them know about the complaint. You might as well stop asking and start telling.

Guest

First off, call a local office. DO NOT deal with corporate.

Showing up at your local Bankers office might be the best plan. Then INSIST to speak with the Branch Service Manager (BSM) and do not leave his or her office until he or she ASSURES YOU that all of the required paperwork is not only filed but properly processing. Do not bother trying to set up an electronic payment. Bankers will send a physical check no matter what you ask for.

Ask for a copy of the barcoded processing form. It will rattle the BSM just a little bit.

Be polite, patient and calm. You are dealing with 'sales professionals' and not typical human beings. Speak slowly and imply that you might be interested in additional products if you want the fastest service.

DO NOT sign anything allowing a Bankers agent to contact you with sales or promotional materials! Many of these void your 'Do Not Call Registry' enrollment for Bankers and they will hound you for years to come!

Thought I was special

My story follows with many others. Within 24 hours of generating an account with Monster, I received an email saying that they saw my resume and found me a good match with their company. I was flattered, but could not understand why an Electronics Technician would be a good match. I did some research and found this site, along with others websites talking about the company's ploy.I received a call today from them today, it was extremely tough to get them off the phone, they do not take "no thank you" very well. I suppose if you are into being a pushy phone solictor and do not care who you infringe upon, this may be the job for you.

Neutral because I didn't waste my time.

I recieved a voicemail from this company today. I called back and my call went to voicemail, I opted not to leave a message. Right after I hung up I got a call back from the rep apologizing for missing my call! I never lft a message, what potential employer does that? My name does not even come up on caller idI allowed the rep to read her script and asked a couple of questions that she vaguely responded to but continued to say the briefing I was invited to would answer my questions. Alyssa it is great you LOVE your job, but you can't be angry with those of us with the insight that this is more work than it is worth.

Leads Scam

I signed up with Ileads over the phone and began getting leads. All leads I got were bad. Either they never answered the phone call or their health was bad and they could not be insured. when I send them back for replacement they would not entertain saying if the phone does not answer it is not their problem. secondly other leads were 85 years old and wanted term cover.etc etc. I called the Ilead rep and talked to him and he says that he cannot help. At the outset they promise you the best leads and you get rubbish. BUYING LEADS FROM ILEADS IS LIKE THROWING MONEY IN THE TOILET.

My BLC group in Austin, TX sold me leads, then made me sit in the waiting room while they rifled through my personal stuff. They took back the leads I had paid for with a personal check.

Since it was a contract commission job, I had told them earlier that I would be leaving early to be at the gym on Weds. by 5 pm.

So then they terminated me and cashed the check 2 weeks later for the leads they took back the day they terminated me. Stay away from these people!

Guest

what does this have to do with BLC? if you want leads, get referrals...

Guest

There real name for "HIGH POTENTIAL LEADS" should be "HIGHLY NOT INTERESTED LEADS" which are those leads that they recycle every week to give a new agent. These "leads" are seniors who did not respond to there mailing leads. What a joke.

Amber-Asst Hiring Manger Bankers Life

I was called to come in for an interview by Amber-Assistant Hiring Manager, who left me a message that she had reviewed my resume and would like for me to come in so I called her back. When I called the number she left on her message, it was her cell phone and I left her a message for her to call me back and that I was interested to hear about the jobs that she had available. When she called me back she was in her car (you could tell from the noise in the background) and she was very hard to hear. When I asked her what job titles were available, she told me I would have to be sure to be available to her on her schedule and that I would need to come in for an interview to see what I was qualified for...and then a second interview would be set up after that to talk about what was available. When I put her on the spot and asked her again what was available due to her review of my resume and her knowing what I was qualified for, she yelled at me that I was extremely rude, that she was no longer interested in talking to me and then hung up on me. This is a company that I looked up online and had extreme misgivings about as soon as she told me who she worked for, now I am glad I did my research before I spoke to her. Amber should not be in a customer service position, expecially not one where she is in charge of hiring qualified people.

Interview scam

I received a call for a job interview. Thanks to this website and comments regarding the scam, I was able to avoid a loss of time and funds. My question is why the Attorney General has not put this people in prison? I can only conclude that enough money is made by this scam to pay off the regulators of our Insurance Industry. It might be best to eliminate Federal Regulators all together and save billions of tax dollars. I am hard press to find an industry where they really protect the American Citizen. We should all be aware, we are the only ones that can protect ourselves from the wolfs of this world.

This is hilarious. These posts are usually from agents that don't succeed, or from people who can't get over the idea of attending a group presentation about the aspects of the business. I went to a briefing in 2008, and made over $190k in my first year, and was the #2 new agent of the year at Bankers. I then went on to become the #2 Branch Manager of the Year at Bankers two years later. What about the practices are bad? They pay low commissions, but they are captive. They have more overhead. The practices, products, managers, training, interview processes, or otherwise did not contribute to anyones failure at Bankers. Yes, Bankers pays commissions at a rate of half of what most independent companies pay, but that is because of the cost of managers, branches, training, etc. If you want higher commissions, then go independent.

Otherwise, a person who failed at Bankers, would likely fail at any other company as well. Your success highly depends on what you are willing to do for yourself in the way of prospecting. If you think Bankers will pull you along, they won't. No company will. They will push you only as far as you are willing to push yourself.

Grow up everyone, and start controlling your own destiny rather than looking for handouts.

If you have any problems with a company you can always report them to the insurance comission in your state. I know the insurance comission can and will shut down a branch office if they need to.

I also do not understand how the company is still in business but by reporting to the insurance comissioner you can at least affect the local office and probably have your problem resolved. The more people report their problems the more this company will be forced to either clean up their act or get out of the business and no more seniors will be hurt.

Okay, apparently H A C K is a dirty word on here... I swear I didn't use any profanity. lol

Those of you who are getting all up in arms about paying for licensing are missing the point. It's not that anyone has a problem paying for their license to sell insurance.

I have a problem with a company charging me $250 a month to work there. ESPECIALLY when they aren't paying me anything but I'm bringing revenue into them. Such a scam and I'm mad that I wasted 2 hours of my life. And, no I'm not someone who "can't *** it in the industry." I've got several years of life insurance, annuities, LTC, and Med Supp (all of which Banker's sells) under my belt and this is NOT the way insurance is handled.

Run. Run far away from BL&C.

i have an interview on the 12 of january... needless to say, i will pass on the scam, thank you very much!!!

That's the largest load of junk we've seen lately. Despite the D rating by Weiss, the multiple client, agent shareholder class actions, the multi-state investigations, the Senate Committee on Aging investigation, the Inside Edition expose' on the scamming tactics, and on and on....you chose to continue.

That speaks for itself. Stockholm syndrome has you.

Your fine parents will need you, for sure, to get their claims paid. Neither you or your parents deserve to be associated with Bankers Life and Casualty Company, and hopefully you will figure that out sooner rather than later.

To all those thinking this is a scam because you are required to obtain your insurance license on your own, not your own training they provide that but your license are ignorant. It is your responsibility to obtain a insurance license just as it is your responsibility to obtain your own college degree for a position requiring it.

If you're letting a great career helping people pass you by because of what some people other then you are saying, that's pretty sad. This is a real opportunity to make a career for yourself that will take hard work and effort, but in the end you deserve your self worth and not someone telling you what you are worth. Think about how doctor's and lawyer's get paid, are they getting a salary or a commission dependent upon putting in the effort they get paid for?

And those saying that this is preying on the elderly, do you have the means to care for your parents or grandparents if something should happen? Can you handle the financial burden if they need long term care beyond what medicare provides? How about the understanding of all the medicare supplements that are out there? Both my parents are on retired and on Medicare and I am extremely grateful that I can help them with that, and they are too.

If you feel this isn't for you then so be it, but let it be something you decide for yourself and not have someone else make that decision before you even find out for yourself. I seen all this before I went but still chose to find out for myself and it's been the best career decision I made.

I can think of a lot of mn companies that are big scammers in one fashion or another,be on the look out with the ecomony down....were all lambs to the slaughter

OMG! I just got a call 15 min ago from Bankers Life and Casualty in Sacramento.

The only reason I decided to look them up is to see what type of business it was. From the looks of things I am pretty lucky I didn't waste my time and energy on a dead end. I agree, why are there federal regulations when companies like these continue to scam people after they have been reported.

Thank you to whoever reported them. I would have never known if I had not stumbled upon this site.

I am in Sac, and received a call yesterday but I missed it. I did this research due to the fact I never said; I sell insurance, so why would they call me.

I don't even own a suit, and never have. I have been in construction and auto mechanics all my life and the only work I know is hard work. so I am happy I read these posts because I wont ever pay for a job. I never have and never will and if you suggest its for a good cause, well just think I can give any free time I wish to helping others with food drives and clothing collections for poor not give money to a company for nothing.

I think I wont return the call Mooo to those representation gigs. :grin :grin

Called about job interview by saying home health. Was a life and casulty insurance co.

Bankers Life agent called after I posted a resume on Monster for Health Information Tech job or other medical office jobs. She told me that it was for "home Health".

Wanted to set up meeting to go over pay and benefits. She also mentioned "career orientation". I couldn't find the name of the business when I used home health. The phone number came up "landline" and no company name.

I dialed it from my cell phone and it was Bankers Life and Casualty Insurance. When in then looked up that, the phone number and address matched.

I didn't apply for insurance jobs. This was in Knoxville, TN.
