I was called by a gal who said they saw my resume on Monster.com. I agreed to an interview the next day. She also told me to wear business attire (I thought that that is what was understood really who would wear jeans to a job interview) and bring my resume (that they...

I too work for Banker's Life & Casualty. I assure you this is not a scam.

They are an insurance company who has been in business longer than the lightbulb has been around. As far as the job goes, obviously you have never been an independent contractor or have any idea how that works. They make it very clear it is a COMMISSION only job....unless you move up to management. With that being said, to sell insurance, you have to be LICENSED to do that.

This obviously costs money and you can get the information for that directly from your states department of insurance website. I am so sick and tired of people giving our company a bad name because they're not intelligent enough to figure these things out. Doing this job takes a lot of hard work and effort with no guarantee of success. I'm almost out of my SNA and look forward to improving at what I do.

As for the guy who commented below me, you always have the option of going out on your own so you get all of the commission. I've been doing that since my second week here and have sold 6 policies on my own.

Bankers Life And Casualty Company in Athens, Texas - SO UPSETTING!!!

I actually worked at another company just like this and quit for this very reason!! Bankers and Winning Strategies Marketing are two of the lowest and degradable companies I've ever heard of in my life!! Not only do they try to make you feel as if you are helping the elderly, they actually are PREYING on them. It is very sad and should be stopped. They also are preying on their employees. DO NOT BE MISLEAD!!! Bankers will try to make you feel as if this a way to build your "CAREER" but it is all a lie!! They even want your bank info so they can take the money out for the classes they said that THEY paid for!! This is a ridiculous scheme. After people work all their lives to accumulate what they have for their families, bankers wants to take it!! I am not very stable financially, but even I will not stoop this low. Anyone who cares for their own parents and/or grandparents should NOT want to do this to someone another persons.

When you go to a site called "pissedoffcustomer", what do you expect to find.

I have worked for 5 insurance companies over a 15 year career. I went to the BL&c "interview" clear in my mind that it would be a presentation, not an interview. The negatives were plainly spoken in the first 10 minutes. Those not interested in commission only insurance sales were invited to leave if it was not their interest.

My experience has been that those looking for a guaranteed wage career will always complain when they fail at commissioned sales and blame others for their own mistakes.

I have not decided to work for this company, but it is because I know from honesty that I may not be able to handle the demands and temptations of commissioned sales work.

It takes courage to look in the mirror and accept one's own limitations and not blame others for them.

If this type of work is for you, don't let the whiners here spoil your potential. Go look at it for yourself. If you are in the 2% who are honest with yourselves, this will be a great ride.

Stay positive. Don't let the failures of others dim your future. What kind of achiever is unwilling to give two hours to look at a good opportunity. Most of you looking are not happy with where you are now anyway.

You are a fool Someone needs to look after the elderly. Insurance is far less costly than the nursing home unless you spend down and get it free (Medicaid).

I do not know anyone that wants to give all they have to the government. Long term care insurance is costly if you are over 60.

Bankers covers people other companies won't and they are far from the most expensive out there. :zzz

Sorry, but you and the person who commented below me are IDIOTS. I work for Banker's Life & Casualty.

I assure you this is not a scam. They are an insurance company who has been in business longer than the lightbulb has been around. Her boss was only available on certain days of the month because we are only in our office certain days of the month. The rest of the days we spend sitting down with retirees and helping them with their insurance needs.

However, you truly make as much as the effort you're willing to put in. The first month, I only made about $1000.

I made that in a week the second month.

This is the complete opposition of a dead end job. I'm almost out of my SNA and look forward to improving at what I do.

That is odd I was not asked to pay for training just to pay for my license and that is fair. Some continuing education courses you have to pay for but they try to find ways so you don't have to pay if possible.

It is clear that some branches are better than others. selling insurance is hard work.

I submitted my resume on a job site just yesterday and today I was called by Bankers Life and Casualty Co and they set up an interview rather quickly. This woman asked what I was looking for and what I had put on the job site was Management/Merchandising/Call Centers, she said a few positions and asked if I would be interested and set it up sent me an email. Well I decided to research the company so that I would not look foolish going into this interview and I found these comments. thanks for the info!! Not going!!!

To Insurance Guy

I can tell you as I was advised by Bankers not to tell anyone about my deciding to become an agent, I too believe in a fair try. And I completely agree with you. I think people need to find out for themselves.

I did not let anyone else make my mind up for me I did it for myself and this is what I have experienced.

In 6 weeks I spent about $600 on licensing, 50+ hours a week without any form of compensation and policies that I had to write on family and friends which I never got paid for, we'll ay one time I did until I left and they were charged back.

So to the last comment, Mr. Insurance Guy. You were probably one of the few who succeeded. And I commend you on your success, sales is not for everyone. I have no objection to hard work. But what finally made me leave was the numerous broken promises at my branch, and I simply could not, can not and will not call and knock on doors to people 65+ lying through my teeth that I am there to help them with "Medicare" benefits all the while trying to get them to purchase something they cannot afford.

If you have to try for yourself, do it. I hope you can supplement your losses. I just find it interesting that the majority of us have similar stories.

I worked at bankers. i did get in the game and not from the sidelines. everything that has been said on thsi forum is basically true.

they brag about their training, but the training program is one of the worst for any company I have been with. Their training consists of you going to a week and watching videos. It's horrible. This company is run by some of the most dishonest people out there. I got out as quickly as I could, and am with a great company!

Outsourcing for recruiting calls? That's pretty weak. Getting a call from some Indian named Steve is always a joke.

So a few random people who you don't even know will sway your mind?

You owe yourself the opportunity to see what its about, not read about it from the sidelines. Nobody is forcing you to take the job!!!

Training is Top 125 in the USA....opportunity is endless.

The "indian guy/gal" is probably just a hired recruiter. I would say outsourcing a job like that is pretty typical in todays corporate world...

Hun, ignore the "Banker's Life" stuff going on in the previous post. It is a fake check the the *** artist made up just picking some company out of the air to put on it.

We had a similar situation happen to us just a few months ago. My husband was selling his collectables on craigslist and some guy sent him a huge check for extra for shipping. I felt uneasy about it, but he believed the guy and wanted me to deposit the check. I did and we almost was sent to jail because of it.

So don't deposit it and don't fall for anything like that. If you wanna sell something on craigslist, only accept local offers!!!

@Mr Insurance Man,

It is obvious that you did not fully read the post, either that or you work for Bankers.

They clearly stated that Bankers filed the paperwork and after they filed it, it took a long time to get it straight with the state because it was incorrect on so many illegal levels and was deliberately so on the part of Bankers.

Yes, you can get a non resident license. Mosts states require you to have a license in the state that you are in first though and the office put the office's address as the poster's address. That is clear and pre-meditative fraud on their behalf.

The poster was very lucky that they weren't charged and sentenced because of Banker's actions...
