*** in a basket of liars!

No words for how upset I am. Mom had a policy since 1951 (my dad worked for BL from 1951 through at least 1969). She died in March, I she had made me the beneficiary as one of my brother's had passed in 1996, the other had borrowed lots of money, so she changed to making me the only beneficiary. Yet BL will no acknowledge that, even though I talked to several workers who had that paper. Now the paper has magically disappeared. I am livid. On SS as my source of income, paid for my mom's funeral arrangements, & all I wanted was to have her benefits to contribute to her expenses. It was a $1,000.00 policy. I got 1/3 even though one of my brother's had passed in 1996, & the other brother was taken care of by her, food & shelter. Your company has lied to me!!! I sent the necessary paper to Little Rock office, & now it has disappeared. She changed the policy in 05/18, & yet there is no letter showing that. I SAW he letter, had a copy of it, & SENT it to the LR office. And I talked to people who work for your company - yet n o one seems to remember receiving it or me talking to them. I will go to my death with Banker's Life being nothing but liars, & will tell anyone who listens!! You guys should be ashamed of yourselves!

Not paying for long term care

My Dad paid over $700 per month for 12 years and he is now trying to collect on his long term care policy. The stall him and say they don't get the fax or email with the bill. They are now 5 months behind and my 88 year old father is $30,000 out of pocket for his care. Filing a complaint with the State Insurance Commissioner Brian Nicholson

Overcharge on life insurance policy...among other things

My parents recently moved to an assisted living facility. My father has a long-term plan with them that we are just starting to access, my mom was told and sold a long-term care plan put it appears she was sold a convalesent plan only. The problem with with a $10000.00 life insurance policy. The policy was written in 2005, the annual premium payment has been $1400.00 per year. As of today, they have paid in excess of $19000.00 for a $10000.00 policy. At the end of the 20 year term they will have paid $28000.00 for a $10000.00 policy. Needless to say, we are cashing out the policy and I have written to the state insurance commission reporting this. I realize my parents should have been more aware of what they were paying for however, this is fraud, plain and simple.

Policies fell behind, Bankers offered to help

Currently trying to work the out but agent not as available. Finally said our policies had auto ability to fund loans to keep policies funded. I had requested Surrendering several policies as we could not afford them. Was told they could work with us and not to worry. In order to surrender any policies the loans (naturaly) would have to paid. (naturaly) Every time I try to talk with rep about this its several days or I happen to catch him but still nothing can be done at this time . Purpose of the auto loans to fund our policies is to keep them active. When one of us passes they will issue payment based on how much is left based on payments to keep polies active. This all started in August 2018. After planning so well (we thought!) it now looks like nothing will be left when one of us passes. I would have thought there would be some agency that could give guidance and help us out of this mess. I also suffer from early stages of Dementa. Had I understood what this way of saving our policies really ment I would never have aggreed to this auto loan. is appreciated.

If you purchased "whole life" or "universal" , you may well have the ability to draw on the policy's cash value to make future installment payments. They will call it a loan against your policy and charge a nominal annual interest, but the current premiums will be paid and the policy remain valid.

That is what I do with my life insurance (whole life, universal) ; I paid the premiums for several decades and now use the cash balance to pay the coverage - it should last until I die without another payment. If you have "term" insurance, you're in trouble.

I spoke with Ms Corrica and she assured me she would get to the bottom of my refund issues in a timely basis. It's been far too long a matter of $100 or so dollars is not enough by for s company of your caliber to quibble over the bad press will cost far more. I attempted passing the exam to be a integral part of BL&C. I pray that my A list vibes I felt then comes through in your expedition of my dilemma. Thanks you in advance.

A couple of days after I wrote my complaint on this site, my hard copy of my Renters Insurance Policy came in the mail. Two days after that I recieved a refund of $12.68 for me canceling my policy.

The unused pro rated portion of my coverage. In addition to posting on this site, I had sent several emails, rescinded my authorization on the auto pay. It is interesting that Bankers ignored my requests for my documentations until I refused payment and posted my review. I understand now why Bankers refused to send me my policy and the Declarations Page.

The coverage was horrible. So I am through with this company. I knew something was terribly wrong when I could not get the hard copy of my policy. A tip for folks out there.

Normally when you make a claim the company refers you to your policy or to attach the first page of your policy. Always get your policy in a hard copy sent from the company not a downloaded copy from the company or emailed to you. Companies change items at will. My reservation on downloading my policy was the company would say that I downloaded an outdated policy.

Or something to that effect. Bankers/Assurant didn't even give me a policy number that their website recognized so I was never even able to download my policy. If I had this difficulty getting a copy of my policy and a correct policy number what would it be like if I had a claim? USAA has the best Renters Insurance.

Their policies do cover flooding, hurricanes, disaster claims. Thanking you Pissed Customer.

My parents each had a policy with Bankers, my mother handled finances and had a stroke, by the time I had all the finances taken over the payment for my dads policy was unpaid.....ONE late payment and they cancelled his policy which he had paid on for years. I called and called, got transferred over and over until they said it was too late. My parents lost my fathers complete policy after paying almost $300.00 a month for over a decade. How can this be legal, my father has dementia and he had no clue the policy was due. Perfect example of companies screwing the elderly.

You have discovered the problem with so-called "term insurance". Your father should have had a "whole life" policy which, after many years as you've described, would permit him to make the monthly/quarterly payments from his existing policy cash value fund without making any more payments.

Term insurance accumulates no cash value. Whole life accumulates cash value (which you can withdraw, use to make future insurance payments, or even borrow against).

I'm really sorry he and you have had so much trouble but I'm afraid he wasn't properly informed about the available options. The cash value will not be equal to the death benefit, but can be substantial.
