Bankers Life and Casualty Company

People, you need to do your homework. This is a valid insurance company since 1879. They are seeking insurance agents. This is not my career field but I am sure they want you to attend a career seminar and insurance agents work on commission basis. When in doubt about a company use GOOGLE! Don't just assume this is a scam before you know the facts. If someone calls you offering a job or to attend a seminar, then get the information and ask questions. Anyone who is unemployed is too quick to jump into something without much homework to investigate a company. So don't go saying that Bankers Life is a bogus company, for it is not. And no, I do not work for them and have been approached via a phone call about my resume on HOTJOBS. I just said that i was not interested...simple as that.

ExRecruiter for Bankers
#221071

As an ex-recruiter, we were told to contact ALL resumes on the database to offer an interview regardless of qualifications, background, education, citizenship. The "interview" or career briefing is simply a room full of people who will be shown a PowerPoint overviewing the sales agent position, then there will be 2 more group interviews (never an individual interview). The more people that came to these "interviews", the more money the recruiters made (I felt so bad for doing this job since I was not even sure if the branch was truly hiring so I had to quit as soon as possible). There are also NO sales manager positions or management training program available or mentioned during the first "interview" (which the recruiters were not made aware of so the company was also lying to its own employees about what is going on). Think about it, with the economy being so bad, why would a company need to cold call potential employees (they should be flooded with applications from their own website). I suggest coming to the interview only if you have the time to waste and are ok with a sales position and NOT being a "real" employee, only a 1099 contractor position

“Interview" candidates know the truth since they even lie to their own recruiters:

1) there is NO salary at all, 100% commission based

2) you must pay to obtain your insurance license (a few hundred dollars)

3) once "hired" you must give the company access to your bank account and give them permission to debit/credit your account as they see fit (to take back "advacement" for the first 3 months / 90 days if you don't perform up to expectations

4) travel expenses are NOT reimbursed so you must use your own car and gas to go out into the field 3 full days a week (aka driving around town to see potential clients)

5) NO health insurance or benefits are offered (no contributions to social security because as an "independent contractor" (not an employee) you are not charged taxes and must figure out your taxes for each year) and you would not be eligible for unemployment benefits if you get fired

Yea right, Bankers Life Agent. The economy is too tough to play games with people's lives.

You are the only one not calling it a scam so I am sure you probably work for them.

I would like anyone who has worked for them to let us know how well they are doing. We are not saying they are not a real business, we are saying they don't treat the employees well, and don't provide proper information for a potential employee.

You wouldn't defend this worthless Bankers company if you didn't work for them. Google Bankers and you'll see scam.com pop up, Inside Edition scam story on Bankers and above all Bankers being investigated by the US feds! People don't have to jump to conclusions, they can read it on google that Bankers is a proven scam on the elderly.

I was a long term care insurance specialist and the client chooses the policy. The client has to choose the amount of coverage he wants to pay for per day.

There is nothing hidden in the policy's. You should not slander a company for not paying for something that was not purchased.

Bankers Life And Casualty Company in Reston, Virginia - Very unconsiderate of my requests

Bankers Life is with out a doubt the worst company I have ever had to deal with, to try to get my money. I have tried several times to fax my request, and no body knows nothing. They say they never received it. I have the fax received reports that says they did. I think it is a bunch of uneducated dumb *** that could not get a job anywhere else. They like to put you through extream preassure to make you krazy. Maybe this will be another one those failers that go belly up. I am still waiting for a call back.

Are you sure that the faxed recieved posts said they recieved the faxes, because for someone who is so *** that they can't even spell "crazy" correctly, perhaps you read wrong.

Some *** agent sold my mother four life insurance policies. They may have sold her more but I found out.

They policies were cancelled but they are still taking money out of her account two months later. Now they are just randomly taking money from her account. We complained to the Better Business Bureau in Illinois and Banker's Life told them there is a check in the mail. There is no check.

They are crooks and thieves. Stay far away from these predators of the elderly.
